Lake Erie Steelheaders

Friends,
I will be in Cleveland over christmas, does anyone have reccomendations for rivers to fish within striking distance of the city? (1-2 hrs). Looking at the Rocky, Chagrin, Conneaut, Elk, etc. What about access? Crowds?

I would love to fish my 2 hander, but I'll bring the single along too. Caught my first steelhead this fall on the Salmon in ID, a beautiful wild fish, and can't wait to experience the Great Lakes Fishery.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I have not attempted to fish around cleveland in 15-17 years but.....

I have heard this website is pretty good for access. Mid page click on the rivers name and the map pops up...

Also might want to try...thesteelheadsite.....mostly bait slingers but at least one spey guy jumps on every now and then....

Good luck,

There is a spey section on Steelheadsite.com, see steelheadsite.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=10

But for info on where to fish near Cleveland, start here:
steelheadsite.com/content/reports.php

Bear in mind if you decide to fish PA you'll need a separate license with trout stamp.
