Need fishing buddy for late Sept drift on North Umpqua and/or Rogue

I'll be in Ashland, OR September 26-29 with my ClackaCraft ( 16' bench) and would like to fish the North Umpqua and/or Rogue. Anyone interested in joining me ?

Another poster in the immediate area (also has a boat) is JD Jones.

Edit: forgot to add!! The North Umpqua fly only water is a 'no boat fishing' show. You can use them for transportation, but not for fishing. The 'other problem' there is the take-outs are designed for rafters ..... bring a block and tackle and lots of tow line. You'll need it. From Glide on down there are several 'regular ramps.'

Not the situation here on the Rogue; all 'in-outs' were designed for any kind of water craft .... short of the Queen Mary.

If you're thinking about putting in at Grave creek and going down to Foster Bar, I'd be interested. Can bring my own driftboat if we need more seats.

Without checking my map(s) that sounds like a 2-3 day trip. Think our fellow is here (Ashland) for the Shakespeare Festival. That said, we just did a couple of 'big' e-mails' back and forth where I gave him an 'over view' of the upper river.

Suspect, the run you've suggested, would be 'end of season' fish.

Concur w/Fred. That is a two, maybe three day float. Not recommended for hard boats. And, this time of year, a permit is required. Which means put in the dates you want, and hope you get drawn. It's a lottery system. Due to the wet year we have had, it would be a fast ride. There have been several drownings this year. All experienced rafters.

Now if you want to do the upper river, I also have a Clack. And it needs an excuse to get out of the garage. Maybe we could do a Clack fest. PM me if interested.

I fish because the voices inside my head tell me to.

I think a permit is require only through Labor Day. And this drift is more than runnable in a 'hard boat,' if you now what you're doing. There was a time when you could run that stretch of the river and never see an inflatable boat. Put in Friday morning, off the river before noon on Sunday, no problem.

Strike that, permits are needed through Oct 15. However, there is a phone-in system if anyone is REALLY serious about getting a permit....
