Question BC Fishing

folks, I'm going to be holidaying in the Coquitlam & Qualicum(Vancouver Island) areas from Sun 27th July for 2 weeks, any ideas on rivers to try for steelhead & salmon? I understand the Vedder-Chilliwack could be worth a try, with the Stamp-Somass rivers on the island . Has anyone fished these two systems? Any suggestions on "hot-spots" in these areas would be greatly appreciated please. I will be fishing off the bank, fly-fishing & spinning.

For fly-fishing I have these flies which range in sizes from #4 double to #6 single:
Steelhead
-teeny nymphs
-coal car
-purple austrian
-gp
-purple flash
-green butt skunk

Salmon
-ally's shrimp
-red ally's
-red arctic fox ponoi
-red frances
-sunray shadow

For spinning, I have countdown rapalas in various sizes(7cm, 9cm, 11cm) and in various colors(rainbow, brown trout, fluro orange/gold, black & gold, black & silver, fire tiger)

This will be my first time fishing for steelhead & salmon, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks

regards
Wade

Wade...there will be lots of Pinks in the Campbell. Use sink tips to get you fly down and small pink flys. Fish the Lower Island Pool and the pool at the Comox logging road bridge. You might also want to try beech fishing off the mouth of the Oyster River just a short drive from Qualicum Beech. Floating line or clear intermediate sink tip again with small pink flys. The Stamp River has Summer Runs in it. Fish Money's Pool, the confluence of the Ash River above Money's and Black Rock area below Money's. Hope this helps. Good luck!

loenslo, I looked at a map of the river, and have found the confluence of the Ash into the Stamp river. It looks like a road goes through the Stamp River Provincial Park?

please look at this hyperlink:
http://atlas.nrcan.gc.ca/site/englis...75%20END%20END

from this map, are you able to please tell me whereabouts (more or less) the Money Pool is & where Black Rock are?

thanks again for your help here

Hi Wade, Stop in at the local tackle store "Gone Fishing" in Port Alberni and they will be able to direct you on how to find Money's Pool far easier than I can describe on this page. Once you find Money's you'll find the others. The road to Moneys Pool is a short distance past the entrance to Stamp Falls Prov. Park. Also had a report that the Eve River north of Campbell River is stuffed with Pinks! Nice dilema.
