Kharlovka / Litza / Rynda

Anyone heading out early to any of the above rivers?

I am not heading out until mid July, and am interested to hear any feedback as to whether we are looking at an early or late start to the season, and what the state of the snowbank is. The website isn't updating yet..... while I suspect that things are beginning to happen out there, I don't think the first groups are out there for a few weeks yet. All skuttlebut welcome to keep interest levels high and dreams well-stocked.

I'm not out till a couple of weeks after you, but I believe that the first rods of the season are casting a line as we speak! Last year was tough on opening week with record high water (peaked at circa 1.25m on the home pool) and the occasional ice flow - I'd expect it to be slightly more civilized this year. I'm hoping the first report which should be Sat/Sun will tell all!

Crikey, that's seriously early. I fished 2nd week in June last year and it while I know it was an "early" year, even in a normal year, last week in May would be a real lottery. We only caught fish up to Home Pool last year and on Litza nothing above Snowbank until the last day .....and I think this year the dates / tides make it an early year too. Oh well, rather be there with a chance than flying a desk here! Crossed fingers and let's wait with baited breath for the first official news.

I'd be amazed if the North Coast rivers are fishing already. They are fishing on the South Coast (Varzuga, Kitza, etc.), but they've cancelled the first week (this week) on Ponoi because the river is still frozen due to the late Spring.

R Kola fishing open:

One of the fine northern rivers is open, water low & a bit cold @4.5C, but weather warming, and fish coming off already.

Prospects look promising

Rynda / Kharlovka / E. Litza further to east along the north Kola coast are likely to be having simliar conditions, but perhaps delayed by a week or so compared to R Kola.
