Yep. It might be my favorite beat of all the beats I've fished over there. The lower section can be tough wading in relatively high water. Also, be prepared to fish deep. I was using a Windcutter with a type VI tip most of the time and that was with a 2 inch brass tube fly more often than not. We also used Snaeldas (sp?) on about 1 inch tubes. If my memory is correct, that beat also includes a pool that is essentially a very deep hole that is absolutely gorgeous, but very tough to fish. The fish on the Blanda are larger than on many of Iceland's rivers and getting fish from 15-20 pounds is not unheard of there. It's been a few years, but if you have any further specific questions I'll try to answer them for you. I can also dig out the journal that I keep for each trip and could then get more specific about some things. I know it is one of the rivers that can be terrific fishing even in June. In fact, I think it's considered to be the earliest river to get fishable numbers of fish most years.
