Question re: fishing season on Margaree River in Nova Scotia.

I was looking at the fishing regs for Margaree River and the guide said the trout season closes Sept 30. Does anyone know if salmon is the same? Does this mean the river is closed or everything is then catch and release. Thanks.

Unless it has recently changed, the river is open for salmon until the end of October.

Draggerman, thanks for the information. Just a little clarification. The catch and release season ends for trout on Sept 31. Does that mean the river is closed to trout fishing after Sept 31? I am planning on staying on the Southwest Fork from the middle of Sept to the middle of October. I really wanted to fish the whole month I was there. Thanks for the help.

Salmon Fishing in the Fall, can not target trout after Sept 30, # of other rivers nearby as well

Trout season itself ends Sept 31,you would need a salmon licence to be on the river the month of Oct

I understand needing the Salmon license but what it I hook a trout fishing for Salmon? I am always one to over license anyway even if I don't end up using it. If I get one I didn't need it just goes to help conservation seems like a win/win. Thanks.

As long as you are not perceived as targeting trout you will be fine
