Skeena Guides???

Hi folks. I will be heading your Smithers and Terrace area of BC after Labour Day and was wondering if anyone knew of any good guides in the area of whom maybe still available for booking. This trip will be DIY but I would like to hire a guide for one day of fishing on the Skeena or its tribs. Just want to go for a sled ride to some places I may not be able to fish the rest of my the trip as well as pick their brain. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

One day is very difficult if you wish to fish with guide as they typically book for longer durations. The area varies greatly so perhaps narrow your search and identity guides that service the specific water you're aiming for and then check for availability. All the rivers vary greatly starting with the mainstem Skeena (which is probably the best chance you'll have for a 1 day guide). Due to the guide system in BC the primo water and rods days are limited and most outfits will not give them up to a DIYer looking for a 1 day guide. Fully booked outfits are booked for a reason...

Yes, Skeena Spey is set up to accommodate you for even 1 or 2 days. As mentioned before most guides that are on their own or guiding for outfitters are set up for multi (mostly 6 day) day or week sessions. I had a couple extra days last year and had a good experience with Skeena Spey which is in Terrace.
Good Luck

If Skeena Spey doesn't work out, call Oscar's fly shop in Smithers. They sometimes book guides.

Surfing sucks. Don't try it.

As others stated you will have a very hard time finding a guide for a single day on any of the classified waters. You could likely find a guide on the mainstem of the skeena, kitimat, or nass somewhat easily though.

Check out Tracey Hittles operation. He has guides and or you can just rent a room and do it yourself. Oops sorry!
