Looks perfect for the whitewater enthusiasts. Look on the positive side Fred - early outmigrants can ride the wave to the ocean and you'll have time to tie flies, check your gear, pet the dog, etc. Be glad you're not on the coast where they saw 90 mph winds yesterday afternoon.

So hear you! Started (mid-1960') with a 17' fth wheel, then to 24, then to a full on 'Park Model' which is a full on one bedroom home. Installer asked me if I wanted 'tie downs' and asked 'Needed?'

'Winds here have hit 100 mph,' DO IT! Not that Winter but the next they were a God Send. Small travel trailers dumped on their sides, etc. One young family had their unit (they lived in the thing) totally 'creamed.' Tossed them the keys to my unit, told them to move in until they get things sorted.

Half expected a 'mess' when I got back but not to be ... A Marine Corp DI would have been proud. They even polished the woodwork, lots of that.

Fishing on the Chetco went to zip so no point in making the long drive so asked if they liked 'living in the unit?' Oh Soo yes she said ... Tossed her the keys, 'It's your's and its paid for.'

Blank look: 'Mine?'

'Yup.'

Drat! we are supposed to be fishing the Applegate next weekend. I don't know anything about how it responds typically, relative to the Rogue. Hopefully things will be better by then.

Maybe

Right now, from San Fran to So. Oregon it is wet and going to stay wet. There is an atmospheric river of moisture starting a few hundred miles east of Hawaii pouring into the area. I expect flood or near flood conditions through about next Tuesday. Then flows will start dropping, but I would be surprised if any waters west of the Cascades/N. Sierras will be fishable for at least a week after that. Pineapple express they call it - a gift from el Nino - but hey, Louisiana is getting it much worse.

Here's the River Forecast Center's interactive map of the area - http://www.nwrfc.noaa.gov/rfc/. The Applegate River is site APR03. The forecast flows for next weekend right now look to be around 2,000 cfs.

+1 to what '23' posted.

USGS Current Conditions for USGS 14369500 APPLEGATE RIVER NEAR WILDERVILLE, OR

This is current up to (roughly) every 30 minutes; will be quite some time before the river (ditto the Rogue) is fishable save for flat up against the dams.

Applegate is a small river with a short run so not much rain to blow it out (not the norm around here!) but a couple of days of dry/warm and it kicks back into shape PDQ.
