cape cod fishing

hey folks ,
my sister has purchased a second house in cape cod so i can have a place to stay and go fishing (maybe that's not the real reason ) . at any rate opportunity knocks me thinks .
i can go any time . my biggest dh stick is a 7 wt . big enough ? i have a jackson fishing kayak that i can use in my pursuit . i can cast out of it standing up . any use for that ? i don't know the fishery at all and i'm looking for some tips or resources that will clue me in . i know that there's blues and stripers , but that's about it .
thanks , jim

I fished Cape Cod with a two-handed rod for several years. A typical 7 weight switch rod is not going to be sufficient for most of the year. Wind is the biggest issue much of the time. Don't get me wrong, there are back bays and side channels that can be fished with lighter weight gear, but that really limits you. I use a Beulah Opal 9/10 Surf rod for my fishing and find that it is incredible for that purpose. Believe it or not, many of the truly experienced locals consider that rod to be too light and too short, but I love it. The Beulah Serum line is my favorite line for that rod. 550gr in an intermediate, although one with interchangeable tips is also available. There are regular threads on two-handed surf fishing on Stripersonline in the flyfishing forum. You'll need to filter through the threads to determine who really knows what he's doing because there are quite a few regulars who don't. PM me if you want more information.
