E. Washington steelhead

My wife and I will be camping next week on the eastside. Never had time in October before. Would like to visit the Wenatchee, Methow and Okanogan. If anyone can help with some general do's and don'ts, that would be great. I'm interested in floating line swing fishing. By week's end I hope to have seen each, sampled them a bit and yeah, it'd be nice if I raised a fish or two.
Base of operations will be Potholes S.P. Side trips will need to include the odd antique store, vineyard and some bird scouting, so it won't be hardcore fishing (this time), but that's ok. Great time to be on the eastside. Really looking forward to it. Thanks for any headsup you can give.

Check the regulations. Rivers only open for steelhead fishing on an emergency basis and are closed now. May be some trout fishing on the Methow. Check the regs...

That's an important don't!

Will do… timing really IS everything (and with apologies to Yogi), flexibility is everything else :roll eyes:.

Trout is now closed on the Methow. The steelhead season can open or close on short notice. Best to check daily. Very little water in Methow "crick" right now so if there is a season it could be a little different.

'You can't always get what you want'.

Thanks, Tom. Will do. Looks like it will be sightseeing for (maybe) later use.

Reminds me of the drunk explaining to the judge...

"Yer ahnur… I had to swerve three times to hit that light post."

So, we're getting a rain forecast for Saturday. Was feeling bad about driving away from the silvers I've been waiting for (which will likely show up Monday (the day I was headed east). Got a good trout report closer to home and after the home discussion, decided to cancel the trip (eat the cancellation cost), meet whatever silvers show, then camp the high country around Mt. Adams. ARRRGGGGHH!

Bless you for telling me, Marcel (I mean it). No sympathy required or requested. Really… how bad is it if you have to pick between fishing and fishing? The irony, however, is glaring.

Looks like the rest of October should be used to see those east side steelfish rivers.

Here's hoping!
Cheers
