Whale river salmon camp?

Anybody know (or know anybody who would know) what's happening with the Karboski family Atlantic salmon camp on the Whale river?

No answers via email and both of their phone numbers on their webpage have been disconnected. Not a good sign, but considering that the camp has been having great fishing in recent years, it is surprising to me.

I've been interested in possibly making a booking for next season...

I've wondered same for a few years.. no word or reply to inquiries. A place I would love to see.

Nothing posted anywhere from them since late winter. And the disconnected phone numbers...

Did you ever connect with the Karboskis? They were probably already on the river in July when you tried to reach them. Now that it's winter they are probably home and you could try again.

If emails or phone calls haven't been returned in almost 6 months no way I would be spending any money there. Nobody is that busy. Something fishy here and there are too many cool places to go fishing to take a risk on one MIA.

Sad to hear. I hope all is well with the Karboski family. I knew Stan; we enjoyed some great conversations. I lived half mile from his home near Parish, NY.

Not a question of integrity. More one of if their willing to host outsiders into an area that only a minor percentage ever have the opportunity to see. Personally I'd love to see it.

I have an acquaintance that has been fishing there for 32 years. They are still going strong. Pricey...$6600, plus a couple grand in airfare, tips, etc. Having said that, try:
Luciette, at 315-625-4524 or (315) 532-0863, or email them at [email protected]

They occasionally have space available, according to my source.

Good to hear that people are currently getting responses. I guess they got their phones reconnected? I've already booked up all of my major trips for next season now, so maybe I'll talk to them about 2017. I guess when you run a low volume, high demand camp that mostly gets its clients via word of mouth like the one on the Whale, you can get by without responding to most inquiries. That said, Sammy Cantafio who runs the Helen Falls camp on the George (not far by air from the Whale) is a very responsive proprietor.
