Any reports on the Margaree?

Has anyone been fishing the Margaree lately? Hows the water level? Any action? Regards, Jones-z

Only thing I've heard about Margaree so far is it's full of stripers.Member of another forum that I frequent was at Dollar Pool, coincidentally 21/6,same day you asked, and he caught 4 stripers in 20 min,no sign of salmon, reeled up in disgust and went home.

Stripers in the Dollar Pool
Last fall I hooked three stripers in the bottom end of Lower Tompkins, just above the Tidal Pool. Though not happy to see their presence, I could understand it somewhat being that low in the river system(close to the salt).

Being this late in June, I would have expected the salmon to be filling in the pools by now ??

The spiny bassturds are infesting the Miramichi as well, more and more each year.Lots of reports from NB anglers catching 50-100+ stripers/day/boat in the estuary, and reports of bass last couple years being caught up the MainSW as far as Doaktown and beyond!

Hooked on tugs

Airflo....some day all flylines will be made this way.

There have been reports of stripers being caught as far up the system as Lake Ainslie over the last few years. No idea what this means for the salmon.

07.14.15 report

I fished several pools (ethridge, swimming hole, seal) last week. Water was low and clear. Fished Seal until 11am. Saw two jump but no tugs. Using small flies. Check new fły shop in Margaree Forks- Tying Scotsman. Alec Breckenridge ties a nice fły

Slow action so put on a black leech pattern to see if stripers might take. None accepted.

Just came back from NS a week and a half ago.
Fished only a few hours on the Margaree over by margaree Forks.
There are fish in, or at least there were. Raised 5 fish on a Bomber but could not hook any of them. Damn frustrating. First experience with them so I kept striking too quickly. Stlll fun to experience.

Met Alex at his shop. Nice man. It's called the tying Scotsman and I agree he ties a nice fly. He is on Mill Rd just off the Main rd (Cabot Trail)

I will say one thing about the Margaree. Some of the nicest people I have ever met.

Faith has totally been restored in man-kind after fishing on that river so many years ago !!
It's the "pool rotation" that is mandatory on that river. Everyone has a turn. If you low hole or not stepping and casting, you are chased off by the masses and best not show your face on the river for a long time !!
Knowing the rules and abiding by them will make you a better person !!

Local Cape Bretoner's by nature are honest, trustworthy and some of the kindest folk on this earth !!
