Hey everyone,

I'm a Midwesterner living in seattle until the middle August. I was looking at swinging some flies in the SW corner next week for summer runs. I was just looking for some direction as to where to start. I've read about the Kalama, Cowlitz etc. Any hints or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

The Kalama has fairly good bank access with a road going alongside the river most of the way. I haven't heard if many fish are showing there yet, but it's a nice river to check out and makes a good long day trip from Seattle. I was on the Cowlitz two weeks ago, and nothing. Didn't see anyone having any luck. Unless I hear that no fish are showing at all, I'll be going back a few times through the summer. Bank access is poor, but there is a long pool at Blue Creek - the trout hatchery - that is sometimes not too crowded, and it produces fish. I have a boat, and you're welcome to join me sometime if you like.
