Hello all. Looking for an integrated line for a 9’ 9 weight single hand rod. Will be using it for single hand Spey and overhead casting using poly leaders and moderate sized flies for steelhead. These two lines come to mind in the 300 grain range. Anyone have any experience, preference, input or suggestions on these or any other lines that might be compatible for my application? Thank you in advance!

Im a HUGE fan of the OPST Smooth for single handers. We've had good luck with 275 and 300 grains on 9ft 8wts. They throw the light t-8 series iMOW tips and even some of the t-11 iMOW as well. You won't be disappointed.

Disclaimer: I primarily use OPST Commando heads (non smooth) on my switch rods, so going from those heads to the smooth on single handers was a natural transition for me.

I have the Commando smooth and the SA Spey Lite skagit integrated. I like both a lot. The Commando has a mono core orange colored running line that is thin and shoots great. The SA has a 3 ft. black textured section at the back of the head which is very visible and audible. When you strip back to the textured section you're ready to cast without having to visibly see the line junction. I use the SA 180 on single hand 3 & 4 wt. 10 footers and love it. They're both great lines but I've always favored SA lines going back to the old Air Cel floaters. They always seemed to be the most durable. Don't know who makes the Commando but it could be SA.

I have a 300 gr Commando smooth with an 80 gr bucket sink tip and Miracle Braid on my 9' 9 wt T&T that seems to be a perfect setup I mainly use that outfit from a boat for overhead casts where I load the rod off the water when I start the backcast. That fat Commando is pretty sticky so it loads the rod perfectly. I can't begin to get the same distance with the various WF lines I have used on this rod.
