S-handle reels are cool, in fact they are my primary reels - Olsons
When your standing in the river, sitting on a bench or on a rock waiting for a run, they sure are nice to look at
I've owned in the past:
Saracione MKIV 4 1/4"
Hardy Cascapedia MKIII 10/11
Spey Co. 4" Skagit and Spey models
I was very happy with the Saracione, but it needed to go to make way for Olson #3
I will say the same for the Cascapedia, it made way for Olson #4
I would own the above reels again without issue. There are some good deals that come up here in the Classifieds.
The old version Spey Co reels (non-hex drag) were very good. The check system was far superior in my opinion. I'm not a fan of the new models and I can't say that I would purchase one.
Farlex look to be solid and get some awesome reviews here ... I am very interested in owning one.
The Robertson reel mentioned above seems interesting. I have yet to see one, physically hold one or read a review on here. At the price point they are offered at, I'm surprised no one here has jumped on one or at least have done a review.
