Gents,It really pains me to say this.Hardy have lost their way and now walk a new path with their reels. Most are made in the far east using parts sourced there, currently their reputation isn't that good as many reels have warranty issues with seized drags and internal corrosion.
Now if you've registered your purchases within the warranty system, then repairs are undertaken quickly and at no cost.Bear in mind that Hardy are currently under ownership by Pure Fishing, some have experienced issues with warranty claims and are being charged for repairs over warranty issues.A very common problem is the one way bearing central to disc drag systems, they are prone to rusting and seizing solid. Those who are suffering such problems, utilising a little common sense can easily source one way bearings to a higher standard of manufacture and self or retro fit them!,probably much quicker for Stateside anglers!.
The last 3 of my 4 Hardy reel purchases have all been returned with drag corrosion problems-Mk1 Angel,Mk2 Angel and Mk1 Swift.I know Cascapedia's suffer quite badly and have heard of Zane troubles also,to the point that many long term UK customers are deserting the brand completely.
Wish it weren't so dudes!.

That is bad news, Yorkie. I remember a thread a couple of months back involving the foot screws on a new Bougle protruding through the frame where they could potentially damage the line. And corrosive materials used in a reel? Not exactly rocket science. And here I thought Pure Fishing had gotten them back on track.
