Tweed fishing hats!

So, I was lusting after the hat that the gent on the main page of the Clan rods website is wearing...kind of like a tweed sherlock holmes cap. I sorely need one.

http://clanrods.com/

What is it called? Where to get??? The more authentic, the better.

Good source for tweed fisherman's clothing in general???

Thanks all--

You mean like I wear when fishing?
I bought mine from Hunters of Brora but unfortunately they have gone bust, not enough people wear tweed.
Try a google search using the words House of Bruar or Tweedstore, then search deerstalkers though mine is described as a fore an aft and does not have the silly ear flaps.

Sherlock Holmes hat

Brooklynangler,

You'll find a Sherlock Style fishing hat at "Bob Church fishing tackle UK". A Google search will lead you there. Very Scottish.

Clan Rods( harry's hat)

Hey Brooklynangler,
The guy on the clan rods website is Harry , owner of clan rods, going to see him tomorrow, try and get it for you ,when he's not looking.
Failing that i will ask around, as in anything, there is lots of immitations, get a real Scottish tweed one, last forever, and totally waterproof.
It will keep your "heid" warm.

Norris of Penrith have them on their web site under clothing/norris/hats/deerstalker. Very nifty indeed at twenty-seven quid.

For when sleeping I dream of big fish and strong fights.

John Norris

Could I both one of the folks in Scotland to elucidate me on the quality of Seeland tweeds. Norris has a whole fishing/shooting outfit for 299 euros...waterproof, even.

Thoughts???

Nice

Very nice. Yours seems to have lots of little pom-poms on it...some sort of odd Canadian tradition I'm not privy to? It's smashing nonetheless.

brooklyn,

those are flies actually--each one caught a fish. My claim to fame is that this hat actually caused Harry Lemire to break in to unrestrained laughter at the River's Edge Cafe in Spences Bridge several years ago.
