Just trying to figure out what a fair price for hardback version of McMillan's book is in very good condition. Well I think it's in very good condition. Have no idea what a book expert would call it. Includes a hand written letter from Bill to Frank Amato, and an old business card from the swallows nest. The net didn't help. Apparently it's worth from $50 to $400!:chuckle:

Did a quick search on the Abebooks website (google it). There was a numbered (only 200 copies) limited edition hardcover with slipcase that goes for about $300. The regular hard cover with dust jacket is about $175. Even the first printing of the soft cover is pricey at $90.

Gary Estabrook's (a well respected sporting book dealer) Jan 2011 catalog lists a "near mint" numbered & signed deluxe edition with slipcase and a "Washougal Olive" fly for only $165.

As with all rare books, they're worth exactly what someone is willing to pay...

Wow, copies of the book are going for as much or more than poor Bill made from writing it. That seems like a lot of money for a book that is a collection of STS magazine articles. If someone wants the reading material, rather than the collectability of the book, they could probably get copies of the magaizines for a reasonable cost.
