I heard from a friend that the fishing has literally gone to crap. I would strongly advise all pregnant persons, especially women, to avoid dining on the locally caught fish. Fecal contamination mixing with the PCB's, mercury and a Hodge-podge of flushed pharmaceuticals might make for unhealthy dining.

Jet sleds/boats destroy redds in the spawning grounds with their turbulent jet wash, scouring the bottom and further burying some of the eggs while ejecting the rest into the stream flow to be eaten. To protect fish, these boats must be restricted from the spawning grounds.
