So now you have far too many choices that don't really matter. One companies 5wt is really a 6wt, anothers is simply a repackaging of a line in one product segment with an new name in another. The lines we have access today are amazing compared to what we had 20 years ago but the quality and durability has lead the manufactures to create crazy prices and false choices.
Don't get me wrong, in the two hand game the current line choices have helped make the two handed rod market possible but every year the manufactures create new lines that for the most part are not better then those before them.Quinn
You hit the nail right on the thumb....IMO there are too many casters that blame "not having the right line" rather than not knowing how to cast. The line companies (and some rod companies, for that matter) have learned to bring out a new series each year, making last years' model "obsolete"...It's called marketing.

A long time Rio user here, Gold and Rio Grand. Both good lines but recently have been using the Single hand spey and really like it. You can roll cast again, sort of Spey cast and overhead cast. I do agree there web site has become complicated but for me I already have an idea what I want. But surfdog that was one of the funniest things I've read in a while, my wife though it was great also. Thanks.

You have to keep coming out with ‘new’ stuff to stay in the game of making profit. Every company for the most part does this. New models of cars and vehicles and rods and shoes and clothes and etc etc etc.
It’s just the world we live in........for better or worse

You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

I had a good laugh, much appreciated!

I too have been cursing their website a number of times. Fortunately I have been praising RIO lines much, much more often and for a large number of years.

We can all thank Simon (Gawesworth) for his superior work on the lines. I am sure the IT department gets some feedback that there is still... room for improvement.

Like an unconscious answer to a question that has been troubling me for long, or a sudden opportunity to achieve something valuable I had almost given up on, the fish is there.

I still have some old Scientific Angler DT lines and at least i weight forward that I bought in the 90's and they are working fine. I know that people who really understand fishing and casting would have tossed them out around the turn of the century but for folks like me ignorance is bliss. I do have a couple of those single hand Spey lines RIO sells and they work nice. For a trout dry fly line I'd just look for something labeled DT or WF and leave it at that.

Hello.. "Rotate your device"? To read about fly fishing lines? Seriously?? What´s next? "Clap hands"? "Slim down"?? Exactly the kind of customer bullying that makes, at least me, to shut the whole shebang down. Is there SOME kind of human thinking behind this "marketing"?? Yours borano20

It's best to avoid RIO altogether, their quality has gone to [email protected] and most lines are not lasting 6 months, this has been going on for several years but nothing has changed except increase in price. I personally have had 3 lines completely delaminate and fall apart in only a few month's time.
Do yourself a favor and buy Aiflo or SA, much better lines that will actually last a couple yrs vs months.
