Nile Creek Fly Shop

Spent some time working with C at Nile Creek Fly Shop regarding a reel I purchased. Top notch service and appreciate the perspective "we are all fishermen first". If you have not checked out their shop or talked with the guys at Nile Creek, I would recommend you do so. Great shop, excellent customer service and some sweet gear. Thanks guys.

I can duplicate the same comments as above ... Courtney and crew are first class all the way !!
Fantastic customer service coupled with real experience with the products they sell. They use what they sell and are fishermen first
Setting up my daughter Celeste with river gear was a breeze. Nile Creek Fly Shop has some lady shop assistants that knows what the ladies need and gives the female perspective on things ... Celeste felt comfortable knowing her gear was "girl approved"
Courtney is a long time two-hander guy and he brings his experience to the table when he's talking gear

Mike

Have you Swung a Spey Fly today ??

I must chime in and report that I've also received the same excellent service and accommodating spirit from Courtney and his staff. Top-Notch shop, and I will surely visit should I ever make it that far west

I guess everyone who casts Beulah stuff is just that little bit extra happier of a person!

Whenever I am in the area for some beach fishing I make it a point to stop in and visit NCFS. Great crew, and a top shelf Fly Shop!!

not a frequent buyer

I have bought from Courtney, and as a signal of satisfaction, I am a return customer which is the best recommendation I can give. My last discussion and acquisition was good.

I used to be a regular patron of his shop but that all stopped when Courtney Olgilvie was convicted of illegal guiding under the BC Wildlife Act in 2016.

I don't visit Speypages to read classless posts like this. I think it diminishes the site and the poster.

I respect your feelings entirely. Really I do. If you know Courtney at all, you would know he has paid his dues and then some. His generosity, lack of pretense, hard earned experience, sense of family and friends, and enthusiasm for the sport not to mention he leaves me laughing and in a better mood every time I'm on the phone with him is what defines the man.

I know there are mortal sins in this blood sport of ours. And that for some of us (and I say us because we are in this together) there can be a betrayal of the spirit and responsibility of being an advocate for healthy sustainability but I would implore those of you to consider that an angler and a man is made up of many attributes. All those listed above exceed the crime here.

I will share my coin and company with Courtney every time.

In addition to that we are in such dire straights we need everyone to stand together against much bigger issues. Sometimes for some of us, that may require overlooking the many shortcomings we all possess

Happy Holidays to all of you

Venerablely,

J

We'll I can see where some may get off calling out Courtney but everyone makes mistakes and he has paid dearly for his. However this hurdle that he was dragged into did not slow down his generosity. This past weekend I got a message on my local forum from a member saying he had just hand delivered a new set of waders and 2 pair of boots to another member free of charge. Courtney took it upon himself to donate these to another member of said forum as he is only 18 and undergoing a major treatment of cancer, fishing being part of his treatment. I didn't see Courtney taking any credit or publicity for this act, just pure good karma and these are the things that most do not see. For some, he is a lifechanger, others, a poacher. I agree, we all need to concentrate on the big picture of farming salmon in pens and commercial fishing bycatch. Not to take away from his wrong doing but he did own it, many wouldn't. Illegal guiding is not the same as poaching, what was done was still catch and release fishing not like some illegal fishing.

Update:NCFS

Just wanted to update that I received my package back from NCFS with a note stating, "sorry this is a little late", which also included a sharp looking NCFS calendar and an ACE SloMo to INT line.
I know there were some things said in this thread regarding character, to each his own. I know what I personally experienced with NCFS and the professionalism, character and generosity they have shown me. Thank you NCFS!

Makes me think about ordering from NCFS instead of my “local shop” that I support. Anyone who supports cancer survivors is first class in my book! I say that as a cancer survivor myself!
