Thanks to Speypages Sponsor Alaska West , here's a tremendous opportunity for you to support the Speypages and experience the finest Alaska King Spey fishing with guest Speycasting instructor George Cook!
Up for auction is the June 29th - July 6th 2007 week at Alaska West's Kanektok operation. You'll spend 7 nights and 6 full days chasing fresh Kings with your two-hander. This week is right at the peak of the king season, but there are also rainbows and plenty of bright chums around just to keep you on your toes!
The regular price for this week of fishing is $4500; bidding will start at $2250. Additional costs to the angler would include travel to Quinhagak, AK (Alaska Airlines flies into Bethel, and Alaska West will arrange a flight from Bethel to Quinhagak that costs $210 round-trip) and gratuities. Please note this is the last spot available for Alaska West's 2007 King season!
Thanks to Alaska West for their continuing support, and good luck to all bidders!
If I was not already committed [dont say it] that week,I would be bidding on this. These guys run a great camp and this is a[if not "the"] primo week for Kings.I went this week with George and had a great time.Great group of guests and great guides[Ed Ward, for example]Click on sponsors on this site, then find Fly Fishing Shop. When it comes up click on speyclave, then #3 of the number choices. There is a picture of George and what you can expect.Heck,I had a 12 king day! Also, had two while helping[demoing my cachanded riverright snap z cast] with Spey casting class in the evening after dinner!Guess you would call that "incidental bycatch"!Beau
What an opportunity! George is an great guy, an excellent speycaster, and is very well travelled. And in my opinion, Ed Ward is as good as guides come. this should be any speyfisher's dream...to say nothing of the fish on the Kanektok. I saw George's pics from last year and the numbers of chrome chinook are ridiculous, and from all accounts this is one of the best rivers for chinook on the fly anywhere...very grabby fish from what i understand.
I was lucky enough to guide that week for 6 summers and all I have to say is that pretty much is about the best 2-hander fishing on the planet! Chrome kings on the swing...that eat and eat agrressively...using 15' type 4 sink tips on beautiful wide gravel bars. It is a dream come true for those who live and die fishing the 2-hander. Uually that week is booked for years in advance, the opportunity to sneak into that week is one that can't be missed and for that price...you have got to be kidding me! Somebody please do themselves a favor and pony up, you will not be disappointed.
i could not have done a trip like this, in the primest of weeks, without the speypages, and think it's unreal that you can offer folks an opportunity like this through your site.
again, thanks. this one's been a dream of mine long before i'd even heard the names Dean, Kamchatka or Kola. can't wait.
yer welcome, happy to help provide the opportunity, and let's not forget about the great folks at Alaska West for making this all happen!
