Thumbs up Rio’s Modern Spey Casting DVD

I think this is the best instructional flycasting video I have yet seen. It is nearly as good as a private lesson with Simon, but better in some ways because you can play it over and over again.

And at $ 49.95, it is cheaper than gas to get to Idaho.

Thanks Simon, Jim and all involved, this is a tremendous piece of work!

Jay, it is cheaper than a tank of gas for a round trip in N Ca.

This DVD set gets the Spey Oscar vote from me!

[QUOTE=2HandTheSalt]"I think this is the best instructional flycasting video I have yet seen. It is nearly as good as a private lesson with Simon, but better in some ways because you can play it over and over again."

This has to be the best fly casting instructional DVD/video on the market. Combine it with John Hazel's Spey Fishing Steelhead DVD, the best ever how to steelhead fish various parts of the river with a Spey Rod, and we have the incredible wisdom of the experts on 4 DVDs.

As noted, I will be buying a portable DVD player to take these coaches along with me.

"And at $ 49.95, it is cheaper than gas to get to Idaho."

I can't fill my OJ Simpson Bronco up for $50.00. Now I can take the pros with me on a quarter of a tank or half tank of gas. Or I can watch them in my office on my computer screen or in our family room on our tv for pennies of electricity.

"Thanks Simon, Jim and all involved, this is a tremendous piece of work!"

Kudos and Bravo Zulu to Jim/Simon and all the great casters including Dana, Ed and ?

Excellent Production on New Rio DVD

I think others who are more qualified than I to evaluate this DVDs fishing/casting merits have said it all. I look forward to viewing it repeatedly to tune up my casting. (Just watched it for the first time last night.)

On a more technical note. Congratulations to Simon, Jim, Dana, Ed, George, Mike, Scott, and all others involved on creating a superb piece of "Instructional Technology". I have given many technical trainings over the years and have found out what works and what does not. These DVDs are an excellent example of what can be done right in terms of preperation, presentation of information, and diagnosis/review.

I highly reccomend them. And the sound is great! (unlike many other videos where you need to read lips most of the time)

TaDa! Into the DVD changer last evening! Even if you're a reasonably good caster, this is the best fify bucks you'll drop this year. Besides the video/verbal description(s) of the casts they also do a 'biometric stick-man' of the cast(s).

Very easy to follow along with all of the presenters. And darn, I've been doing the "Wombat" cast for ages ... who knew??

Rio's Modern Spey Casting

Rio's Modern Spey Casting is a super DVD! It's a 'must buy' for beginner and expert alike. It's the next best thing to hanging with these guys on the river!

Whoohoo! Just got my copy today. This looks great from what I've seen so far. I already see booboo's that I've been doing.
Can't wait to see the rest of it.

It's great, but I hated the "Faults" sections, I had to keep saying oops thru all three discs

I got mine this past week-end and can't stop watching. I almost trashed the battery on my laptop on the long commute home yesterday evening.

This is a great instructional DVD. It has clarified a whole bunch of detail points that are so often glossed over in other works on the subject. As a single handed caster for so many years with only basic spey experience, I probably have all of the faults listed plus a few more!

Looking forward to a Spey 'renaisance' for this upcoming season.

p.s. I now know that the Cape Cod Canal can be subdued with the Spey rod

When sight fishing, look over your shoulder from time to time, you never know who's behind you

Sam, The Red Shed Fly Shop will sell you a copy.

I think I heard that it was going to be available in the UK at some point not to long after we got it here, but I can't remember who told me that.

How you get the line out and fishing is personal preference so as long as it works and is easy no one should care but the caster. MSB
