Select some Amherst pheasant centre tail fibres to make up 4 small bunches – each bunch has 2 fibres each of natural, hot orange & deep red. Change the tying thread to red
Tie in and trim each of the bunches of Amherst fibres, quartered around the tube
This shows the Amherst bunches in place
Select a matched pair of JC eye feathers and tie in between the Amherst bunches
After the second JC is tied in, the head is finished with #4 Glo-Brite floss (bright red), and varnished
Slight wetting & sweeping of the finished tube fly gives an impression of what the overall silhouette may appear like during the swing
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles (spey rods). Doug Larson
