Maybe a dumb observation but I just started building my own leaders (maxima clear) and it occurred to me that having all those knots might spook fish, esp. the big knots at the butt end, and esp. for spey casting since I'm building 14' - 15' floating leaders. I use a double surgeons knot. If I want to taper down to 8# or less for low/clear water than I might have many different sections. Any thoughts?

Just trying to find an excuse for why I haven't gotten into fish lately, in spite of a record run on most of the rivers by me! Maybe going back to knotless leaders will prove me right/wrong.

Thanks,
Marty
