Thanks for the input eriefisher. The weight on the DT is definitely in the wrong spot even though this particular line has a longish front taper. It will overhead cast just fine (which is not what I'm looking to do). I can get an okay single spey out of it, but I have to punch the h**l out of it with my top hand or it won't form a front loop (which is why I was thinking it's too light... not enough rod load). I'm thinking I'll need somewhere around 350-365 grains in a 45' delta-ish taper. The reason I haven't tried the Single Hand Spey is because the head length doesn't offer any advantage over my Scandi Short. I would love to try an Airflo River and Stream WF9F, but airflo lines are almost non-existent in my neck of the woods.
