Fred, as I shall remember him

Fred lucked out & happened to time it just right on that trip with Mark Bachmann. The Deschutes was full of fish & Fred had a blast. The other two are on Fred's favorite run on the Rogue.

Update on Fred

Was able to connect with Fred via phone a couple days ago. For those who haven't tried, getting Fred to answer the phone is just short of a miracle. Not that he is anti social or anything, far from it. It's just that he keeps weird hours, and now, it is questionable whether his phone is charged,,,or if he can get it out from under the covers before it goes into voice mail, telling you he hasn't got VM set up. Be persistent, keep trying. (541) 944-0404 I'm sure he would love to hear from all his friends on the SP.

Fred said he had a heart attack on the trip from Medford Or to Renton Wa & they had to call 911 to come & get him. Although he sounded OK on the phone, he was unable to elaborate on the extent of his heart attack.

Per conv w/Julie & X#1.0

Had a nice conversation yesterday with Fred's daughter Julie & her Mother, Fred's first X. It turns out Fred actually had another stroke, rather than a heart attack, on the trip to Renton. But I guess when you're on the receiving end of things like that, all you know is the lights are going out. He is now stable. His short term memory is somewhat sketchy so just go along with it when talking to him.

Administrators: Fred Evans has been a contributor to the Spey Pages since it's inception. Can you make this a sticky for a while so it doesn't fade into oblivion?
Thanks,
JD

No, Here is another one standing with David Nelson. Groping gags are not that funny to grown men anymore. Good on ya, David!

Fred's charm

We all have our stories of abused women we have personally known. My own daughter being one of them. To those of you alluding to Fred's conduct towards the fairer sex being being anything less than totally respectful,,,,,,! It is quite obvious you have never met Mr Evans & know not of what you speak. Go back & read Budesa's comment about the health care attendant's affection for the man. Not only that, you are unable to appreciate our humorous attempt to make light of a bad situation. Face it, we are fishermen, not good will ambassador's. If you have a bone to pick on the subject of feminine abuse, go find an appropriate forum for that. Kicking a man when he is down is not exactly respectable behavior.

Fred is a one in a million kind of guy. It is an honor to be accepted as his friend & get to know him as well as I do. Faults? We all have them. But when it comes to women, Fred can charm the pants off a snake & slip them back on in the blink of an eye with nary a flinch, much less an objection. In this day & age even. Fred can put us all to shame on that. Wish I had that talent. That's my story (verbage) & I'm sticking to it.
