New member here, but I have read extensively for months. What a great place you all have here. I have been fishing with a fly for most of my 37 years, but only recently took to using Skagit lines on my single handers.

It all started with a 200grain opst on my 5WT, which is absolutely killer off a dock or paddleboat for sunfish and bass.

At this point I should mention that I am in Minnesota, and fish around here and also Wisconsin.

I got into indicator (bobber, really) fishing for what we call steelhead but are technically lake run rainbows from lake superior a couple years ago. I caught a few and had a good time. This past fall I purchased a setup to cast and swing a Skagit line and flies. I carried both rods (indicator and swing) for exactly 1 day. The indicator rod did not see the light of day for the rest of the season...

Welcome to the Speypages !!
Exactly how I started swinging flies for our Greatlakes Steelhead.
I started out dead-drifting flies, then migrated to swinging them at the end of the drift. I was getting fish on the swing, so the indicator came off and started swinging flies exclusively. I've never looked back ...

Enjoy your time here

Have you Swung a Spey Fly today ??

Thanks Mike! No looking back indeed. I need to figure out what to do with the 200+ little egg flies I tied over the past 3 years..

Just hand them out to the folks on the river while you explain to them the art of spey casting with 2 hands.
