New to Spey Fishing!

My name is Steve Hendricks and I am a long time flyfisher, but am just now getting in to spey casting. I am hoping Santa brings me a switch rod for Christmas!
I first learned how to fly fish while attending Humboldt State back in '93 (many hours in the Mad River slough chasing steelhead) and I continue to flyfish to this day. I live in Los Osos (Central Coast of Ca.) so I don't get to flyfish as much as I'd like (occasional trips to the Sierras or the East Side). I did spend a few years living in Northern Idaho and Central Alaska where I spent A LOT of time flyfishing for anything that swims!!!
Anyhow, I finally made a return trip to the Klamath this fall to chase half-pounders and I couldn't believe I had stayed away for so long! Man that is fun fishing!!! I was using a 10' 6 weight and quickly realized that my nearly 50 year old arm can't cast 10+ hours a day like I could when I was in my 20's. Plus, my buddy Sam came up to fish a day and I was VERY impressed with his spey rod.
This website has been a huge benefit to try and learn as much as I can about spey fishing.

Hang on Steve! It's one helluva ride!

Great chaps here, on both sides of the pond.
