Intro from Ohio

Hello. I flyfish for smallmouth, trout, panfish and steelhead in OH, PA, NY and WV and when I can get there, Wyoming. I am a wet fly fanatic. I first tried a two handed rod years ago when my fly rods were lost by the airlines on a trip to Wyoming (I got them back after the trip). I picked up a 5 weight TFO Deer Creek switch rod and had a blast, even though any onlookers ran the risk of dying of laughter. This past year, my angel of a wife presented me with a Winston "Microspey" 4 weight as 20th anniversary present. I am looking for good trout spey rivers in nearby states. I am falling in love with two handed casting. The casting alone is addictive; the tug of a fish is sublime. My casting skills with single handers were limited. To my great surprise, working on the dead line roll cast on my way to better spey casts and concentrating on anchor position, forward stop and line speed and direction with two handed rods have made me a better single handed rod caster. I'm still not sure how that happened... With much to learn, I look forward to being part of this outstanding forum.

Welcome aboard. What part of the state are you from? I'm in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland and if you are local or headed here sometime, I'd love to swing some flies at steelhead with you. Check out Castapalooza in a couple weeks, April 14th at Hidden Valley metropark on the Grand River, lots of helpful and friendly people who love to cast two handers

Now that I'm back in trout country after spending a handful of years out your way (Columbus OH) I'm finding the same improvements in my single-hand trout game. Welcome to the madness!

I'm in the Cleveland area. Most weekends my wife and I head out to Sandusky to fish for trout on small water. Swinging for steel sometime would be great. I don't know the best spots for two handed casting in the area, I just pick random spots and swing away, concentrating on learning the casting. Castapalooza, sounds like an event not to be missed.

Are there new member instructions for how to upload photos?
