Looking forward to being in this group to share and learn from others that dress salmon flies, fly fish and support efforts to protect wild trout and the rivers they call home.
I live in Michigan close to the AuSable and Manistee rivers and a couple hours from great steelhead and salmon fishing on Great Lakes tributaries.
Retired from a career of environmental protection which began as a Student Biologist with Michigan DNR doing limnological research on Lakes a Superior and Huron and landed me in USEPA's Office of Water as a senior policy advisor on market-based environmental programs. How does a biologist end up doing policy? Go figure.
Started dressing classic salmon flies 4 years ago and teach fly tying classes at the local library to honor Ann and Jack Schweigert who taught me fly fishing and respect for the rivers and forests of northern Michigan.
Here's a couple of my recent flies, the Claret Jock Scott and Green a Islander.
