Speying upper Columbia

Got out today to swing up some rainbows and got a few pics to share....even busted out my ultra lite Spey a 7ft 4/5 Poppycane that bends deep and speycasts like a champ

I have and unbelievable as it might be itís not the same river as even half a mile up from the border We have big run after big run up here and not so much down stream

I try and fish the river on the US side each fall. There are a couple of runs that are accessible, but access is somewhat limited and the water begins to pool up a few miles south of Northport at the head of Lake Roosevelt. Having said that, most days Iíll catch a couple fish. Not a lot, but the size of the fish always astounds me.

Steve actually guides dry fly stuff for the most part and when he really wants to swing he drives the 6 miles north to my waters lol
