Nextcast Zone

Anyone using the Nextcast Zone on their trout rods? I'm thinking about the full Floating version with 10' tips on a 5 wt trout spey.
thanks
Mike

If the grain window works for your 5wt trout spey rod should be ok.

Yes, I worked up a couple trout spey setups with Zones last summer.

In the grain weights desirable for trout spey, the heads will be pretty short, which is desirable when stripping flies for trout.

325 Zone FF

I finally put this line on my ACR 12'5 wt. WOW, this thing flies with little effort. Now I just need to find some willing fish.

Yeah, the zone's are pretty slick lines. I've been running a full floating 375gr and a 350gr F1, both with 10' Gaelforce poly's (65gr) for tips on my 5wt. Really good fishing lines that really fly when asked!

I see you're a shvingger too!

I dropped down to 300 gr Zone and its just as sweet to cast. The 300 won't turn over the really heavy stuff but that's OK, i have the 325 for that. The 325 casts more of a skagit and the 300 is more of a scandi, so its a good pair.

I dont want to hijack the thread, but if I may jump in with a question. - Is there a noticeable difference between a rio/airflow skagit or FIST/Gamechanger head compared to the NextCast Zone or Coastal heads? (For chucking heavy tips and big flies...)

I feel that the zone is smoother and it's easier to cast junk. I've not cast the Gamechanger but the FIST and skagits can be a bit clunky. The zone feels like its in between a skagit and a scandi. I think the coastal head is basically a skagit. I'm not not sure how the differ from a Rio or Airflo skagit but I fish the costals I have like a skagit. Maybe someone with more info on the coastal will speak up but that's my take
