New Integrated Command Head SH in Action

Interesting new approach for OPST.

I talked with the OPST folks today and they are sold out for the moment.

Sounds interesting, generally they're always sold out of most things though.

This is interesting considering everything they preach about mono and their Lazer Line. Steers them in a new direction.

Which way to the river?

I see the line-stripping application (trout, saltwater, still water). Sticking to mono for steelhead.

I think its a great idea and makes good sense for me for my single hand 5/6 for Trout for versatility.

... the pseudo-science of running-lines and matching heads has now devolved into such a miasma of obfuscation that it is a wonder that people are even not more confused....Erik Helm

Interesting addition. This one can improve fishing near the bank on very close distances.

But I can't remember such situations in my practice... maybe on some very small streams
I'm fine with OPST 175 head and running combo on my 4wt rod.

Looks like that will be another OPST winner. My one reel two spare spool single hand arsenal is likely to be:. Main reel Rio Single Handed Spey, my spare spool #1 the Rio Single Handed Spey 3D and the other spare reel this OPST Smooth. I'll be covered for everything I do for single hand for trout and smallmouth. Hope these lines stay in production. The fact that OPST is already sold out suggests the OPST will be there for a while, or so I hope. For two Handed rods, I wonder if the smooth performs as well as the OPST commando with a Lazar running line?

Doesn't Scientific Angler's sell approximately the same line called the spey lite, scandi and skagit head lines? Or are they different?

I’m pretty sure SA makes the new integrated line for OPST, just hear say though...

OPST told me that they had worked pretty hard on the R&D to get it right. You don't typically do that and turn the product over to someone else to build. Also, the heads are the same as their old Commandos.

I'd bet it is made in house or at least tightly out-source contracted.

Thie integrated OPST Smooth lines are now in stock. Just ordered two -- one for my 4 wts and one for my 6 wts.
