Pieroway Renegade

Hi,

I would like to get some input regarding the Pieroway Renegade series of rod, and specially the 3 wt. 8,6 feet model.
How is the action? How will it feel fighting fish? My guess is that a 150-175 head will do the work but how about tips? Should I get some 5 feet tips for this?
I only have longer spey rods from 3-6 wt. and I think it would be nice to try short rods for spey fishing this summer on small rivers with lots of trees and overhangs etc.

Thanks in advance!

Jerry French is the guy to ask - I'd contact him directly.

Love mine! I fish a 9’ 4wt Renegade for small bass and bluegill with a 175 Commando. Handles larger bass and trout well. But even a small bluegill is fun. Soft hackles to game changer streamers cast very well with a progressive taper. My favorite rod in the TX hill country. Jerry did a great job designing the rods. Also great customer service. Replaced a broken tip with one call. I use 5’ tips in tight quarters.

I also fish the 11’6” 8wt Renegade

Many thanks for the input. Am curious to try shorter rod and I could just take a simple singlehander but this little rod looks cool and the action seems nice. Got some good info from Jerry himself and great support from Geoff. Really nice guys and helpful.
