Trout. Steelhead, same thing right

Figured the trout station doesn’t get much play, thought I’d get it some hits.

The summer box started out thin and simple. I fished a lot more than last year. Needed that!

I had 18 river days. Definition of “river day”, floating down a river, finding juicy water, making camp, and having a good time. Repeat repeat repeat for 20-30 miles. Many dry mouth mornings. 7 am cerveza . Mandatory . To get your head right.

And ice.

In short I didn’t fish much, but one river day somehow numbs months of work and the crazy world we live... next summer can’t come
Soon enough.

Fishing summary. 0 for 5. 3 solid pulls with a cartwheel and 2 good fish that played me 10 or so minutes . Debarbed hooks, they release themselves, oh well. I’m there for the good time, the fish are a bonus. No hero shots for me this year.
Oh and 3 resident trout that hit way harder than their salty brothers. And 2 rapids with waves that seemed 10 ft tall that scared me straight and left marks in my drawers.

20 hr.round trips x 3 for travel. Well worth it.
Solitude. Endless fishing. And the 3 am star lit sky . Good food and cold beer. And the occasional hi ball.

Feel free to share your season highlights.

Yeah, my harvest card is a cruel joke this year, but I still had buckets of fun. Though I am thinking about trout fishing more next year.
