Just returned from my trip to the Sandy River steelhead fly fishing class @ Welches
Didn't hook into a chrome but did end the trip with a pair of nice trout I took home at a local lake.
Used my Redington Hydrogen Spey 4wt and hooked into a pair of beautiful 16" and 18" trout using the OPST 275gr head, OPST tip, and a small intruder type fly.
Did land some smaller ones and let them go.
Have to say, that using the rod was a blast - trout are definitely made for this rod - have to say it's much better than a single hander rod as there was too much brush, trees, and no back cast room.
Low to the water snake rolls, perry pokes, and single spey made casting a breeze under tight quarters.
Returning in May for the Oxbow Regional Spey Clave so I'll bring the rod again for some summer steelies...
