Question for you trout folks using spey rods:
What is the best way to rig a scandi line to present to trout in a lake ?
Both from shore and from a boat.
Going to Mammoth Lakes in the Eastern Sierra this week....
It's my first time freshwater fishing using a 2 hander and I don't know much except I did figure out that a switch rod is better than a spey rod and that a delicate presentation like a scandi head is better.
As for the terminal end:
- Some folks have said to just use a sinking polyleader and tie a tippet then a fly.
- Others say 2 flies on the leaders...
- Still others have said to put a floating hopper (dry) near the butt of the leader and then a sinking fly on the end.
- Then a few have said use an indicator (bobber) of some type and use multiple flies?
I plan on using spey casts so I need to know which rigging would work.
