Echo 3106 Glass

I purchased this afternoon, the new Echo 3106 Glass.

I wanted a TH rod for really ultra light weight lines.

Tested several WF4F lines.
DT4F old SA Mastery - not very impressed with the casting.
WF4F old SA Mastery - better but not great.
WF4F SA Nymph Line - This line worked on the 3wt glass rod. Nice T&G single spey however, still on the light side.

In addition, I tested the new RIO Scandi Short in 180gr,,, this is an excellent line for longer distance casting with small flies.

Tomorrow I will test cast some of my RIO Trout LT lines,,, I suspect the WF5F and WF6F will be smooth casting on this rod.

I've been looking closely at these rods but waiting for a change in the exchange rates. Glad to see some are getting these on the water and line testing for me☺ Maybe the dollar will turn around by the time you have all the answers👍

Update on lines and the Echo 3106 glass.

Ambush 195gr is excellent,,, added a 7ft polyleader and it will cast fairly decent loops a moderate distance. Did not try it with T-8 or sinking Versileaders.

RIO Trout LT WF6F is also nice for longer leaders and small wet flies. Simon Gawsworth recommends this line for single hand spey, it works great for TH with the trout spey rods.
Nice line for short distance when you do not want to mess with the loops rattling in the guides.
Ref: RIO Scandi Short 180gr head, for me is a pain for short line situations.

Over head casting is also nice with any WF4F line for the dry fly long leader situations. The rod is light in weight and this is comfortable for match the hatch in the evening.

Not easy to cast tight loops with this rod,,, it has a fairly significant amount of counterflex however, not too bad on the tip bounce.
