ARE 1123 guide spacing...

Anyone have any specs? I'm going to do a static test anyways, but if anyone has a winning recipe in all ears!

I have the IM6 blank, NOT The UHM

Thanks

I'm curious to see how you like that blank, looking at the 12' 2/3 when the can dollars comes back to life. For spacing I'd copy my deer creek. Do you have a switch you can follow by?

Steve Godshall provided this spacing to me as I am building one too over the winter.

guide spacing

I built one of these rods myself. Here you go.

I pulled the rod out and wrote down the spacing. These measurements came from a board member that got them from Steve Godshall. (SGS)
5, 11, 17 7/8, 25 3/4, 34 3/4, 44 5/8, 56 1/4, 69,
strippers at 83 3/4, and 100.

I want to see some pictures when rod is done.

What lines are you'll going to be using on the 11' rod?

I have tried a few different ones but still need to do some testing.

Thanks guys. I actually used an 11' switch that I have and the spacing is way off.

I can already tell this rod is going to be a real winner for local trout and even stillwaters.

I'm actually building 3 of these right now! Ha.

Definately will post pics as they finish.

For lines I'm thinking a 200 gr skagit and a 5 weight "nymph" taper. But this thing is much lighter than I though it would be, so I will he tapping into my friends' trout lines to test. A 5 weight trout LT might be perfect...

This was sent to me when I asked for help with the same blank, it is super fun for smaller fish! And I had Godshall make me a scandi line, I think its 180 gr or so. Hope this helps!

Hello Frobombs,

I put SAGE guides on my rod.
one RXL 2,0 2,0 mm tiptop
four SSGC 1 = 5,7 mm
one SSGC 2 = 6,2 mm
two SSGC 3 = 6,8 mm
one SSGC 4 = 7,0 mm
one MNAG 10 = 7,0 mm stripper
one MNAG 12 = 8,6 mm stripper
10 guides plus tiptop.
The spacing from the top in centimeters:
11,5cm
25cm
41cm
60cm
82cm
107cm
134cm
167cm
205cm stripper
248cm stripper

This is what Steve Godshall wrote me:
These are the measurements of
> guide centerline on my custom built rod in cm.
>
> 13.0 #2
> 28.5 #2
> 46.0 #2
> 66.0 #2
> 89.0 #3
> 114.0 #4
> 143.5 #4
> 176.0 #5
> 213.0 stripper #10
> 254.0 stripper #12
The rod casts a line made fron Steve with 230gr and a Airflo 40+ WF5 very nice.
I hope this helps.

I'm waiting by the mailbox like a 10 year old for my blank to arrive. I've got my fingers crossed for the 5wt trout LT too, since I've already got one that I've been using on my single hand 5 wt.

I use a wulff ambush 5 with 10' polyleaders and it seems to cast pretty good. I have landed a few fish on it. It is a blast with smaller fish. I got a 210 scandi I am going to be testing the next time I have a chance.
