I don't own this rod, i do own an 11'7" gary anderson 3wt, which he designed as a trout spey. His suggested grain window is 225-300. I fish 10' polys with smaller wet flies and dries on a 230grain scandi and love it. For small/medium wieghted streamers, muddlers and clousers i use the same set up with 260grain scandi head. I can shoot all the line i could possibly want with either head.
Looking on the echo/airflo site, the suggested grain window for the SR3106 is 150-210 grains, Skagits would be on the upper range. I would think anything over 250 grains may overload the rod or retard its performance.
Ultimately, if you have a sense of what your looking for, give Steve Godsall a call. You won't be disappointed, his prices are fair and his lines and line formula's are excellent.
