why do you need to browse when you're on your phone

nothing on a fishing forum is that important that it needs constant attention..lol.

I have the most basic cell phone (the only phone in the house) 'money can buy' and have taken a total pass on all the other 'bells and whistles' you can get. For me the phone can be a 'life line,' if push came to shove. If it really is important, and on occation it is, just keep pushing the 'call' button. Worst case is I'll get a voice message. Nothing I can think of can be that important that I can't wait a few hours to read.

Verizon keeps installing the damned things and I keep calling them to remove the BLOODY THINGS!

Edit: Another one just showed up on my phone!!

It's a good way to pass the time while waiting while in line, at the dentist/doctor/eric, while the wife shops, during lunch, etc. I hardly ever browse while at home. To each their own I guess.

Can't even get through a reply without the apps appearing a handful of times. Anyone know of a good website alternative? This isn't worth it at the moment that's for sure.

Apperantly its a error in safari... But its horrible! 3 min of surfing and 5 pop ups! Why the hell does the guys running this forum decide to start with adds? Is $$$ that important?

Just about at the edge of the cliff myself...

I was really frustrated when this commercial ad stuff swamped us. I needed help from the Geek Squad, local computer shop, to squeeze out most of it. However, by the time I had my security settings up and running again, I found that I can't access links in posts. I have to switch to a less secure browser for that. Talk about being p*ssed off. I am also frustrated by the wide gulf between what the Speyadmin tells me what I SHOULD be seeing, and what pops up on the screen. Targeted ads. Hmmm. So here I am, a 70 year old fly fisherman, wondering what in the hell did I do to be targeted for Asiamatch.com ads? Really? Maybe it was the male enhancement ads from last week? Or the "single girls in my area looking for a date" ads from the week before? I feel like a dying mule in the desert, helplessly watching the ad vultures circling overhead. My thoughts go out to the new owners - may you live in interesting times.

I now use an I-pad for most web browsing & I stay signed in (I'm too lazy to do it every time); since one early day after the transfer of ownership, when I did have a problem & made my issues quite plain on an ongoing forum post along with a considerable number of other members, there appears to have been a "sort out" & since then I haven't had an issue.

So well done the new chiefs.

But if it re- occurs I will openly "bitch" about it on the forum & if I'm not satisfied with the response I would look to join somewhere else.

But at present I still think this is an excellent forum & I would not wish to transfer anywhere else lightly - unless I thought I had been "sold out" & had become a marketing link - which is not how I perceive the current situation & so at present I remain satisfied with the status quo.

Regards, Tyke.

It's got to be an issue with your phone or browser settings.
I've been browsing the site with Firefox on my PC, and Safari and Chrome on my ipad and have no problems with popups or anything untoward.
I just googled how to enable the pop up blocker in Safari and found this
http://browsers.about.com/od/safar1/...-In-Safari.htm
Hope it helps and hope it's okay to post the link. If not, please delete.
