3rd party hosting

I can not see pics uploaded as an embedded link. Is there a solution for this?

Get a free imgur account

When posting select private or the imgur community will give you their opinions on your photos

I would love to see your pics tho - usually I only say that to chicas

The long term solution will probably be to pay actual money. At this point I can kind of see the point photobucket has - a very little - they gave some people a little free space for their “personal” use, and then they went and put the links on social media sites like this one where they can get 100s or 1000s of hits per day...or hour. So they finally went for limiting the bandwidth of free accounts. Long term no matter what method you use it is likely all externally hosted pics will simply be gone from speypages and similar sites in a few years.

The real solution is to probably to post using the built-in photo posting functions on this site. Since nowadays most operating systems will allow you to “copy image” directly from the screen, if it is a prizewinning professional photo I’m not sure 3rd part hosting will protect the photos much either, if that is a concern.

Black Zonky, if your wanting to see the pictures posted on forum there is a fix for this that will show them again. ON google type in fix for photobucket and should show you links for fix ,depending on which browser your using. Hope that photo bucket doesn,t stop this working as so much info in the older pictures posted on online forums. I,ve been using it on firefox for a couple of months and seems to work fine for me,just download once and seems to work everywhere.

Yes someone came up with code that allows you to copy and paste your link into their engine and then you can 3rd party host your photobuckets. Motivated by the pure hate that stemmed from the move PB did. It's free but a slight headache with clicks

Free 3rd party hosting will always exist. What PB did has been done before by a few other sites all of which dissolved after making the move.

Imgur has a strong community base albeit a highly sarcastic surprisingly intricate astoundingly active forum like message center. The community does have influence on the admins unlike PB - but fair warning, have thick skin should you venture into the imgur commune - it's a hilarious place and will offend everyone equally. It gives tumbler and reddit a good run for their money.

You can skip the community and just post pictures using their 3rd party however it can be addictive reading the fat from their viral page. You'll be laughing eventually and shaking your head allthewhile

Got it. I added "Photobucket Hotlink Fix" as a Chrome extension and the old photos are working now. Thanks.

Does this fix the visibility for the rest of the world too?

I think we all have been hit with the Photobucket Bomb ...
Towards the end it became painful with all the pop-ups while I was trying to upload or even view my own library.
I opened a flickr account, it was free ... let's see for how long now that Photobucket is about to bust

Glad to help, just passing along info found on Clarks I think it was from. Some of the old threads with pictures were nearly priceless to people researching , I,m thinking of old reels and motorcycles , but a picture can convey so much better than words can the subtle changes from year to year or model to model and are some great threads that were riuned with out all the pictures, sometimes years worth. I’m with you there. I had several bookmarks that had photos of old spec sheets for whole classes of classic reels, for example. All gone now. Now I try to copy the image and email it to myself instead if I want to reference it in the future. But you are right. Years of interesting and useful info all gone at once.

Time to start actively thinking about some of these issue in terms of long-term viability. We take a lot for granted.
