Salmon Confidential

"Follow biologist Alex Morton as she unravels the mysteries of BC’s declining salmon stocks using some of the world’s top fish labs. What she uncovers should shock anyone who cares about our fish and all that depends on them. This 70-minute film documents Morton’s journey as she attempts to overcome roadblocks thrown up by government agencies and bring critical information to the public in time to save BC’s wild salmon. Learn about our changing coastal ecology, grassroots science-based activism, and the inner workings of government agencies tasked with overseeing our fish and the safety of our food supply. "Salmon Confidential" is a film for all Canadians."

Before anyone passes judgement, spend the 70 minutes and watch this...

Thanks for this.

Ive followed her work for years; and its fascinating to see it evolve from a concern about sea lice to this.

Thanks, such important awareness here that should drive our buying habits when we spend our money at fish markets and restaraunts.

What I lack in skill --- I make up for with enthusiasm.

Eye opening video, and absolutely disgusting how this is being handled by the Canadian government. One sentence stuck with me after she said, "at some level she wonders if nothing is being done because they want the wild stocks gone." It would make things a whole lot easier for the corporations to make $$$$$$, without having to worry or compete with those dang wild fish for market share.

Are you kidding?

WOW! This is a must view for anyone even remotely interested in the food supply and wildlife as a whole. Really impressed with the effort on the part of these dedicated individuals and it seems that bureaucrats are the same all over the world. I am still in disbelief after seeing this video. There needs to be action on the part of every concerned citizen in Canada at the very least. Thanks again for sharing this.

Wow very well put together video. Thought provoking and scary! Left me with lots to think about. Not to mention even less respect for our government.

Yet another victim to the two handed addiction ....

Yup, I watched it, depressing to say the least, will never touch another piece of salmon again. This documentary plus a previous written documentary on the mislabeling of fish has done if for me. Pretty much 70% of salmon labeled 'wild' at the stores is farm raised.

NY Times Article

There is a NYT article today (May 3) about this issue and Alex Morton/Salmon Confidential. Lots of quotes from aquaculture industry/govt. types implying that Alex Morton is a Cassandra and that there is no hard evidence to support the threat.

Apparently there is even a website now that is designed to refute Salmon Confidential.

What do they think Alexandra Morton has got to gain from this? That in it's self gives her more credibilty than those trying to discredit her. She's doing the job DFO and the politicians are supposed to be doing.

Thank you, so interesting...

Would be very nice to have this post (or at least a post that references this video) stick at the top of each forum.
