Smile Alaska West August 2013

Afternoon all,

I've just got back from an amazing week long fishing trip to Western Alaska with my dad. Thought i'd post a few pics and a link to a short video.

We fished the Kanektok for Silver salmon, Dolly Varden, Grayling and Rainbow trout. The silver salmon fishing really is amazing. The vast majority of fish we caught were sea liced with a good number having long tails. Most people fished with a single hander but I used my Loop double hander to good effect. The river is great for swinging flies for all the target species. Most fun of all for me, was my dad and I hooking into two fish at once, which we did several times!

We went with Alaska West Deneki staying in a tented camp located 5 miles from the Bering Sea. The camp is really good with solid tents, a cook house and lounge. The guides were amazingly friendly and knowledgeable with the weather being surprisingly good. The mosquitoes and no see 'ums as you would expect were a pain at times!

It really was a trip of a lifetime and I would recommend it to anyone.

Thanks for looking

Cool video, love the music.

Alcohol doesn't make me less inhibited, it just makes me more of a retard.

Nice video.

More than the fishing it must have been great to spend the time with your dad. Something I'm sure neither of you will forget in a long time.

Glad you had a great time up there! Awesome video and it was funny to see that bearded maniac of a guide in it. Still fist bumping away I see. Hell of a guy to fish with!

What a beautiful bunch of fish, there seem to have been a large number of male silvers in the early runs everywhere. The char are wonderful looking fish too, congratulations on a successful trip.

Afternoon all,

Thanks for all the kind replies. It was a really amazing week. Probably the best thing was getting to spend some quality time fishing with my dad. Something i haven't done in ages due to work. Memories that will definitely last a lifetime. I really can't speak highly enough of the guys at Alaska West. The two days my dad and I had with Kevin were the best fishing days of my life, by far!

The music was Daybreak by Overwerk which you can get on iTunes it was used on the Go Pro Black advert which is the head camera I was using for the filming.
