Margaree 2016

Hi Everyone,

Here are some videos from the Margaree River in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, October 2016. Best water I've seen in years on the Margaree.

Hope you enjoy, Alan

Nice videos! I'm interested in your gear set-up for the Margaree in fall. What type of lines/tips should a fella be looking at for that river?

Hi Mike,

Wish you would have been there... I ended up with 8 hooked and landed 4, nothing huge, but still fun... It was great having Jerry over, I think he enjoyed himself... Jim had a good time and hooked a few fish and hooked a nice fish, he called it a fish of a life time, would have liked to got a look at it... Hopefully next year you will be able to make it?

Between work obligations and some family (wife) commitments, this years hopes for the Margaree quickly dwindled away
Already making provisions for next year. So if everything goes as planned ... I'll be there.

Looks like at least one of the fish fell for a sparse shank ... care to share ??

Gerry is a gentleman !! I missed his presence at the salmon camp. How's he making out with the long rod these days ??

Must have been a good "bump" in water !! The graph a few days prior to your arrival showed bad news. From what I see in the video, you guys had plenty of water !! Enough to push the fish to the upper pools like Cemetery What a beautiful pool !! Very fond memories of that pool ... 14 salmon in 4hrs between the 4 of us

What week were you there?

I was up Oct 8-15, when remnets of Matthew passed though. We were blown out for three days, even lost power. Fished the Middle River when the Margaree was un fishable. We caught fish in Wash and Etheridge on Thursday and got washed out again on Friday.

Glad to see you got into fish!

Hi Mike,

What was great this year, it stayed between .7 and .5 the whole week we were there. I was using mostly tubes this year, the black & blue and the Cascade, and one on Lester...
Jerry is a Great guy and is doing great with the spey rod, I was hoping he would have got into some fish.
scruffy_fish, We fished from October 15th to the 21st from Lower Tomkins right up to Cemetery, covered a lot of water this year and was able to scratch up a few fish, week started great with fish 8 fish hooked and landed 4 the first 3 days and skunked for the last 4, that's salmon fishing, this is why we keep going back.
