Salmonstalkers - Norwegian Silver

I just released this film on the salmonstalkers YouTube Channel.

This is from one week in Finnmark northern Norway, hooking the big fishes in one of the worlds best atlantic salmon rivers!

Nice water, nice fish.
the capction at the end summed it up.

their fish handling skills leave a lot to be desired.

Really? I saw nothing that was so alarming, in fact that is how I release and handle most Atlantic salmon.

Might be an European thing then... Over here, I been taught by friends and fishing guides to never lift the fish out of the water for photos.

I have no problem with lifting a fish out for a quick pic, but hear in Washington it's against the law. Cool rivers and very nice fish, would love to go there some time and fish!!! And maybe show them how to fight a fish, just kills me watching someone just standing there with the rod up and doing nothing. Side presure baby side pressure, down stream and to the bank.

They are different fish v steelhead. A high rod tip isn't always a bad thing with these fish...save the down n dirty side pressure for later in the fight.

Love seeing big salmon, but hate seeing them in the rocks.

You can catch a lot of fish, and you can keep a lot of fish. But you can't do both very long. Jim Timmins
