Margaree Salmon

Hi,

After watching Colin Tait's (White Pointer) videos of the beautiful Salmon Rivers he fishes I had to make a quick trip to the Maragree River in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The first video is a large Salmon I had on at the Lower Tomkins Pool for about 5 minutes before breaking me off, figured I had a wind knot in my tippet.

The Second video is a nice dime bright Wild Grilse I hooked at Gillis Island Pool.

Sorry for some of the bouncy video, tough when it is hung from around your neck...

Thanks for sharing that, had the pleasure of driving through the Margaree Valley a few years back, stopped at the museum, some beautiful country there. Hopefully the next time I see it I'll be fishing.

Well done Alan. Nice to see the old chest cam's still holding up to the rigors of your fishing prowess . Also nice to see that you and CND are getting along. Wish it wasn't such a long drive from here. Looks gorgeous this time of year.
Well done on the vids and fish, couple crackers there mate.

Thanks Guys, can't wait to get back... Would have loved to get a better look at the big guy... Little over 3 months Jim and you will be there

Colin this river is similar to what was in your videos... After watching yours I had to go, left at 2:00am Saturday, 5 hour drive to the place I get my license which opens at 7:00am, less then 1/2 later on the water, fished till dark 10:00 pm, sleep, at the river at 6:00am fished all day drive home 5 hours and work Monday morning... Rough day Monday at work...

Great fun though, Alan

Bravo Alan !!! That grilse was a scrapper !!
Love to see your videos ... although my favorite way is to view them after a long day on the Margaree back at camp ... then followed by a discussion on technique .... followed closely by a tying session

Nice to see you using that Solstice !!!

Mike

Have you Swung a Spey Fly today ??

Hi,

steelhead36 - The reel is a Speyco "4" Skagit", old style drag, love it...

White Pointer - I've done the sleeping in my Jeep before, but this time I had a buddies trailer to crash in. Glad I didn't sleep in the Jeep, Sunday morning the Jeep was showing 0 degrees at 6:00am, crazy for June 28th. The rod is a CND Solistics 6/7/8

Mike - Looking forward to October... We should start looking at dates soon so we can book Daves...
