Brand new Klaus Frimor

Hot off the press Scandi casting. It's very funny too.!

... the pseudo-science of running-lines and matching heads has now devolved into such a miasma of obfuscation that it is a wonder that people are even not more confused....Erik Helm

Klaus Frimor put on the best and most humorous spey clave presentation I have attended to date. His irreverence and gentle pokes at folks in the biz are hilarious. It is especially amusing when you consider all the buds in the audience who usually do not believe they are fishing unless they cast over 110 feet....

Must disagree with Klaus on one point though. A well executed single spey with a Scandi head will indeed minimize water disturbance but in my experience it is possible to disturb very little water with a sustained anchor cast by anchoring close and going through all the motions slowly and deliberately.

Thanks for posting SkagitMiester. Reminds me of all the things I want to keep practising.

Too bad the line is tough to see in the video. Good on the organizers for using the monitor speakers (typically used to face performers on stage so they can hear themselves).

Great video. My short experience so far is with skagit heads (sorry, Mr. Instructor). He is using very different lines. Are these what are called mid-belly or long belly lines? Thank you.

No. Klaus is using Scandi-heads which tend to be as easy or even easier than Skagit heads to cast. Make an effort to see him present in person; he makes it look ridiculously easy.

A number of us prefer the longer Scandi-style heads such as the Fall Favourite heads designed by Nextcast.

Thank you. I will check out those lines, and watch for an opportunity to attend a session with Klaus.

"Easy". He sure makes it look that way. It's a pleasure just to watch him cast. He is also entertaining.

Which way to the river?

Sorry if I've asked you this before but do you know the leader formula used for underhand casting? I called North 40 before Frimor presented this year to see if they knew what his formula was. They didn't but said they would ask him. When they got back to me after this year's presentation, they said they had asked him but his response was more or less that it varies for each particular rod.

I take your point but it must be the case that, in term of a formula for leaders, there is a starting point. Surely not every scandi/underhand caster has to reinvent the wheel.

My bad. That word was missing from your post. Post now deleted.
