I wonder how they differ from floating MOW tips.

They are tapered! When also the belly comes tapered they have turned back to last century Spey shooting heads which later were named as Scandi heads

I'm not positive Jon but I think the floating MOW tips only come in 10' and the Commando floating tips come in different lengths like 5, 7.5, and 10 I thought I heard him say.

I used a 150 grain floating MOW tip with a 5' poly leader on my 4wt single hand rod. How is this any different then the commando head and floating leader set up? it casts super easy.

To add to swingindeep's comment, you can use the 2.5/7.5' mow or 5/5 light mow/iMOW with the 150 grain floating MOW and make a nice tips setup with a 5 weight single hand rod. Great way to repurpose your floating tips for trout rods instead of buying commando heads at 55 a pop.

Good news from OPST !

I have been using custom cut T8 full sinking and standard 10' floating MOW tips.

This new addition from OPST means I don't have to cut down 10' floating MOW tips!

Now I can get properly tapered 5' and 7' floaters to add to my OPST head collection...
